Poorva Pandey, Anurag Singh Thakur, Baseem Khan
Abstract: In this paper a comprehensive review of a micro grid based on wind energy system has been discussed in detail. An in depth review of the different configuration of generators with their relative merits and demerits also have been considered in this paper. The classification of the generators for Micro Grid suitable for remote area application, their control strategies and Grid interface strategies also has been discussed in detail.

APPLICATION OF SHUNT HYBRID POWER FILTER FOR POWER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT [pp 12-16]
Bhatane Deepti, Lade Hitesh
Abstract: The thesis report presents design, simulation and development of passive shunt filter and shunt hybrid power filter (SHPF) for mitigation of the power quality problem at ac mains in ac-dc power supply feeding to a nonlinear load. The power filter is consisting of a shunt passive filter connected in series with an active power filter. At first passive filter has been designed to compensate harmonics. The drawback associated with the passive filter like fixed compensation characteristics and resonance problem is tried to solve by SHPF. Simulations for a typical distribution system with a shunt hybrid power filter have been carried out to validate the presented analysis. Harmonic contents of the source current has been calculated and compared for the different cases to demonstrate the influence of harmonic extraction circuit on the harmonic compensation characteristic of the shunt hybrid power filter.

AC-DC CONVERTERS TOPOLOGY IN TRACTION APPLICATION FOR DC MOTOR DRIVE [pp 17-21]
Tripathi Monica, Lade Hitesh
Abstract: Separately excited dc motors fed by sequentially operated multistage converters are commonly used in mainline traction. The drive performance can be greatly improved by operating the multistage half controlled converters. Drive of a shunting locomotive of 25kV ac traction consists of a half-controlled converter feeding dc series traction motors. It suffers from two important limitations. First, at low output voltages the converter power factor is low. Secondly, the source current with square wave shape is rich in harmonics. In case of suburban and main line trains power rating is large, consequently, the adverse effects of the poor power factor, harmonics and harmonic disturbances on the supply network and telecommunication lines are unacceptable. To overcome these limitations multistage converters, which are operated with sequence control, are used to feed armatures of traction motors. The two half-controlled converters arrangement improves power factor and reduction in reactive power. The designed converter is simulated using MATLAB software to predict the performance of both the different stages of the converter.

SAR IMAGE NOISE AND NOISE REMOVAL FILTER TECHNIQUE [pp 22-26]
Parihar Manoj Singh, Purohit Naresh
Abstract: Image filtering algorithms are applied on images to remove the different types of noise that are either present in the image during capturing or injected into the image during transmission. Synthetic aperture radar(SAR) images are high resolution images of geographical areas ,moving and stationary objects. The intensities of pixels in these images are based on the spatial orientation, roughness, and dielectric constant of the surface and object imaged. So, forming the images are challenging and refining them is difficult. Speckle noise is a significant disturbing factor for SAR image processing. Speckle noise is multiplicative noise, so it’s difficult to remove the multiplicative noise as compared to additive noise. So image de-noising has become a very ….

INVESTIGATION ON PERFORMANCE OF GRID INTEGRATED WIND ENERGY CONVERSION SYSTEM [pp 27-33]

Pandey Poorva, Khan Baseem
Abstract : Increased awareness towards environmental concern has led towards the efforts made to reduce harmful effects of conventional means of electricity generation on environment and to generate electricity from the renewable energy sources like wind and solar. Generation of electricity from wind energy is associated with the advantage of non-ending wind resource devoid of harmful emission or content in it. The proposed investigation in this paper is aimed to achieve the following objectives Design, modeling and simulation of grid integrated SEIG based WECS ….
